Worship
I had considered including this under the heading of Theology, but I wanted it to be a page that was clearly marked, and the more I thought about it, I believe that Worship, while still being intrinsically linked to Theology, can still be a topic in and of itself. So here you have it, a page devoted to the topic of worship. Here we will discuss, not so much music as worship, but worship as a very way of life. If you have been under the misconception that worship is what that guy with the guitar does at church on Sundays and Wednesdays, it is my intent to help you break free from that. Worship is so much more than a band or a style of music. Worship is, at it’s very core, a lifestyle.
In Romans 12:1 it says,
“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.” NASB
That’s what real worship looks like; that’s what real worship is! It’s a life submitted to God the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit made available by the blood of Jesus Christ. It’s a life of surrender to the One to Whom you owe everything. Those are the fundamental principles of worship. Everything else is just style and occasion.
With that in mind, I would like the discussion to be built around these principles. However, feel free to discuss worship music and to ask questions or make statements, as long as they don’t stray too far from the original intent of this page.
