Worship is a way of life. There, I said it. If you have been under the misconception that worship is what that guy with the guitar does at church on Sundays and Wednesdays, it is my intent to help you break free from that narrow view. Worship is so much more than a band or a style of music, or an event during church. Worship is, at it’s very core, a lifestyle.
In Romans 11:36 – 12:1 it says,
” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ESV
From that scripture we can see that worship involved seeing something or someone as glorious, and then making sacrifices in order to hold them in the position of glory in your life. When Jesus is in this place of glory, it is a beautiful example of what we were created to be; worshipers.
That’s what real worship looks like; that’s what real worship is! It’s a life submitted to God the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit made available by the blood of Jesus Christ. It’s a life of surrender to the One to Whom you owe everything. Those are the fundamental principles of worship. Everything else is just style and occasion.
